Baseball: Ryan Luna Throws No-Hitter It was all zeroes on the scoreboard as Sonoma State pitcher Ryan Luna walked off the mound at the end of SSU's 7-0 win against the CSU Stanislaus warriors in the second game played Friday afternoon at Sonoma State. Luna's no-hitter is the first for the program since former SSU pitcher Aaron Damm held UC San Diego hitless back on April 30, 2005. The Seawolves took three of four against Stanislaus over the weekend, setting season highs for runs (15) and hits (21) in a 15-5 victory Saturday in Turlock.
Softball: Seawolves fall to Humboldt State, Maintain Lead in CCAA
Despite two losses to Humboldt State University on Saturday in Arcata, Sonoma State's softball team maintains its first place standings in the CCAA by one-half game over Cal State Monterey Bay. The Seawolves are 22-6 overall, 14-5 CCAA. Keeley Ray had an outstanding effort at the plate throughout the series, going seven for eight in the opener with a triple, a stolen base, an RBI and five runs scored.
Men's Tennis: Seawolves Stumble on Final Day in Colorado
The Sonoma State men's tennis team took a 2-1 lead into singles play against Metro State on Sunday in Denver, Colorado, but the Roadrunners rallied for a 5-4 win over the Seawolves. Sonoma falls to 3-9 this season.
Women's Tennis: Two Matches in Two Locations Doesn't Slow Seawolves
Originally scheduled to play Notre Dame de Namur in Oakland Friday morning before battling Mills College on the same courts, scheduling conflicts forced the Sonoma State women's tennis team to host Notre Dame in Rohnert Park before hitting the road to Oakland for its match against Mills in the afternoon. The last minute change wouldn't slow the Seawolves, however, as they cruised to a pair of 9-0 wins, improving their record to 10-6 this season.
Women's Track: Seawolves Compete Well At Mathis Invitational
The Sonoma State women's track and field squad returned to action on Saturday at the Johnny Mathis Invitational, hosted by San Francisco State. Angelique Lopez set the sixth-best mark in program history in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 25.87, and Tori Dwyer blew her season-best time in the steeplechase out of the water, crossing the line at 12:28.83.
