The 11th annual Disability Awareness Month at Sonoma State University is well under way, and there are still multiple events worth attending before April is over.
Sonoma State Disability Management Advisor Maggie Simms emphasized the role students with disabilities play in the university’s diverse campus.
“Sonoma State is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all students,” said Simms. “In the United States, people with disabilities are the largest minority group. Sonoma State celebrates April as Disability Awareness month adding to the diverse culture seen across the campus and recognizing the important role students with disabilities have in our campus community.”
The next Disability Awareness Month event will be on Thursday, April 18 at 5 p.m. at the HUB in the Student Center. “Disability and Sexuality: Every Body’s Sexy,” will feature certified sex educator Shauna Farabaugh as a guest speaker to discuss disability and sexuality. For more information on the event and Farabaugh, visit her website. For additional information about disability services on campus, visit Disability Services for Students.
