Portraits, landscapes and landmarks of the North Bay and beyond are featured in "John LeBaron: A Lifetime of Photography," on display through May 27 in the Sonoma State University Library.
John LeBaron spent 20 years as a photojournalist, many of them for the Press Democrat newspaper, and taught photography courses at Santa Rosa Junior College for more than 30 years. His photographs reflect both his keen eye and his artistic perspective, whether trained on landscapes, individuals, or shapes and textures in the natural world. The exhibition is in the library's 2North gallery on the second floor.
LeBaron, who died in 2014, was the husband of longtime Press Democrat columnist Gaye LeBaron. Sonoma State University's special collections include the Gaye LeBaron collection.
The public is invited to a free reception and talk by Gaye and daughter Suzanne LeBaron on Wednesday, March 23, 4-6 p.m. in the library. Parking on campus is $5-$8. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP to library@sonoma.edu or 707-664-2397.
