(Sonoma County) Sonoma State University’s Department of Nursing has been recognized with two top-10 rankings for their registered nursing and graduate programs.
According to registerednursing.org, Sonoma State’s nursing program has been ranked No. 5 in the state out of 126 similar programs for 2019.
Scoring 98 out of 100 possible points, the SSU Nursing Department was recognized for the “pass rates” of students taking the NCLEX-RN exam, a test used across the United States to help assess a nursing student's competency, which is required for licensure.
“We have highly dedicated and hard-working students as well as faculty in this program,” said Mary Ellen Wilkosz, chair of the Nursing Department. “Our faculty are very cohesive and, as a result of this amazing team work, the department is able to provide a pedagogically sound curriculum, which is the cornerstone for our student success.”
Regiesterednurses.org also called attention to the department’s flexible BSN and MSN programs designed to meet busy student needs. “The Sonoma State University Department of Nursing provides a premier foundation for nurses to practice lifelong learning and to contribute to their community of choice through patient care,” regiesterednurses.org noted in its description.
The Nursing Department also was ranked No. 10 by NursingDegrees.com among colleges and universities in California that offer graduate degrees in nursing online for 2018-19. Factors used in the rankings include tuition, student-to-faculty ratio and student services.
