”Land, Sky, and Sea: A Tapestry of Perspectives,” a group exhibition opening Feb. 6 in the University Gallery, will feature the work of SSU alumna Catherine Daley ‘13 and two other Sonoma County artists, Adrian Mendoza and Bambi Waterman. The three share a focus on environmental issues like sustainability, consumerism, wildfires, and drought.

Daley earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture and teaches sculpture at Sonoma Academy. Her sculpture, “Aurora Ii: Redux,” was reconfigured specifically for its placement in SSU’s Student Center. She is involved with the Pacific Rim Sculptors Group and Women Eco Artists Dialog and with public arts projects, including Newport Beach's Civic Center Sculpture Garden, the “Aurora II Redeaux” sculpture in SSU's Student Center, and Santa Rosa’s Pepperwood Preserve.

Waterman returns to the gallery after 20 years, having participated in a 2005 group exhibition,“The Magnificent Seven: Sonoma County Sculptors.” She also has taught ceramics at Sonoma State and other Bay Area universities and colleges.

Mendoza has spent most of his career in photojournalism and has documented significant ecological events, including extensive aerial photography of the Kincade Fire and environmental changes affecting the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

The exhibition will run from Feb. 6 to March 15, 2025. The opening reception is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and the artists’ talk will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27.
